Silly Springtime

We had lots of fun last spring. Michael and Wesley played in the mud.

All three kids helped us in the garden.

Justin cut his head open while tearing down our fence.
But all in all, we had fun. I am currently having a bad case of spring fever. I have already planted ranunculas and primroses. They are just divine.

Sex Ed

Vent post warning.
Hi there!
I am going to talk today about my opinion on the newly passed Sex Ed Bill in Utah:
http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/utes/53570545-90/abstinence-allow-bill-education.html.csp
It requires all teachers in Utah to either teach abstinence-only sex education or no sex education at all.
Meaning: teachers are no longer allowed to teach students about birth control, STD's, or even the risk of teenage pregnancy. My opinion: ridiculous! Seriously, just pathetic, unrealistic, irresponsible, etc, etc.
I realize lawmakers want parents to teach their children about sex, but the reality is lots of parents just don't talk to their kids about sex. In the future of Utah I see more teen pregnancies, higher rates of STD's, more confused teens, all because of the ignorance of this bill. Teens are going to want education about sex, and if they don't get it at home, or at school, they are going to get it from their peers, from the internet, and other places that will most likely be highly inaccurate. Teens need to be educated about sex correctly and hear all about chlamydia, HIV, herpes, the risk of unwanted pregnancy, and how to prevent all those things. Also, I read a newspaper article that locally teen pregnancy has been on the rise. Well I'll tell you one thing, this bill is not going to fix that. If it passes in the senate, I'm seriously rethinking about my decision to keep my kids in the Utah school system.

Best Book Ever!

I was at a yard sale a few weeks ago where a lady had over 800 books (she told me) and let me get as many books as I wanted for $1 total. I took home waaaayy too many books. But I got some gems, one of them being "Heidi" By Johanna Spyri. I picked it up and couldn't put it down. I adored it. It was divine. I cried. I laughed. It's my new favourite book.  I think I related to it in so many ways. It made me appreciate living here in Utah so close to the mountains. If you are looking for a book to read I highly recommend "Heidi".

Francy's Rainbow Birthday Party

This little girl had a birthday.

Family members and friends came over to celebrate.

I made some rainbow brite treat bags.

Lots of delicious food was shared.

Francy's favorite babysitter even came.

We had fun in the newly remodeled family room.

She got lots of sweet adorable gifts.

Including five pairs of shoes.

Lilian helped with the hand printing.

Erin and Frank, the newlyweds came even though they were newly-wed. ;)

Me and my dad threw together this rainbow brite cake last second.

Here are Francy's handprints.

At the end of the day she was so tired she fell asleep right in her highchair. (lol!)

He is Not Here

by Rich LaRocco

The women Jesus knew, forlorn,
Went to His tomb on Sunday morn.
The earth had moved, the rock rolled back,
His body gone, the tomb was black

Where is our Lord? the women cried,
We laid Him here after He died.
And then they saw upon the stone,
An angel, sitting there alone.

He is not here, the angel said,
For He is risen from the dead.
Remember not his prophecy,
That He would go to Galilee?

Now go and his disciples tell,
He lives again, and all is well.
And so they ran with fear and joy,
His pledge fulfilled, death to destroy.

Rejoicing, yet a doubt they feared,
When suddenly our Lord appeared.
Fear not, He said, for I am He,
Who suffered in Gethsemane.

I conquered death, atoned thy sin,
That you may live with God again.
They touched his hands and held his feet,
And washed his wounds with tears so sweet.

He dried their tears, sent them away,
To spread the news, He lives today.
While some believed, his foes denied,
You stole his body, skeptics cried.

Apostles, all eleven men,
In Galilee met Him again.
The Gospel truth, no greater thing,
Our Savior lives, so let us sing.

He is not here, for he is ris'n,
And freed us from eternal pris'n.
Repent, my Child, forsake your sin,
He died for thee but lives again.
