Recession Causing Moral Progression

Hello world. From my veiwpoint I submit that the bad economy is contributiong to a generally better morality. There are more yard sales. More are using craigslist.org and ksl.com to sell their stuff. People are reducing , re-using, and recycling much more. Less people are buying new if they can buy the same product used, it's the same product. I think it's great. In my opinion the general american public was getting a little too cauky, things were just a little too easy, and wealth and money were just too important. This bad economy has forced us to all take a step back, reprioritize our lives, and make better decisions for ourselves and our families. The high gas prices forced people to stay at home more, getting to know their neighbors and communities, bonding with their families. Lay-offs have forced many to re-evaluate their careers, some going back to school, some taking their careers in a different path than they would have. More people are eating at home to save the money they used to use on eating out, spending more time with their families. Housewives are gaining more skills of cooking, doing so much more at home because yes it's cheaper. Lots of companies have gone out of business, but if you look at which ones, it's the stores that have extremely overpriced items in the first place, ripping people off. I think lots of people are gaining skills they wouldn't have otherwise learned if the economy wasn't as bad as it was. Also, because of all the lay-offs people are working harder at their jobs in fear of getting laid off. Maybe the fear isn't healthy but it is getting us somewhere. More folks are planting gardens, going camping instead of dropping hundreds on hotel rooms, and doing their own fix-it work instead of hiring someone else for the work. I forsee lots of good to come out of this not-so-good market. More people are saving their money more wisely, putting together larger emergency preparedness kits, more food storage, and taking better caere of what they do have instead of wearing out something just so they can replace it with new. Lots of folks are looking at their long term happiness rather than instant gratification. I submit marriages and families will come out improved. I know mine has.

Check Out These Peaches

These peaches came from the peach tree in the yard of the house we are going to buy. Yay! We are so excited to be homeowners. Don't worry, I will fill you in later on the details, from white brick fireplace to retro wallpaper to the three food storage rooms on the basement. (Yep I said three.) And I will also be posting before and after pics of the decorating process. (or re-decorating) I can't wait to paint the first wall of my very first house. I may have to break out the peaches and cream. ( to eat, not the colors)

Speech

So I read some interesting acticles in the newspaper today about the contreversy surrounding President Obama's speech on education. I think parents taking their children out of school to miss the speech is ridiculous. First of all, the speech has no political left-wing agenda that these ultra conservatives are so afraid of. It was solely a motivational speech about why kids should stay in school and do their best to get a good education. Second, we should be teaching our children to respect the president, not just President Obama, but the office of the President, no matter what political party the president belongs to. Even the LDS church's first presidency has said that we should support and pray for our president. Another thing is the American people voted President Obama in, so the children of America should have the opportunity to hear from him. Just because our kids hear the speech doesn't mean they are now going to agree with everything Obama does or says now or in the future. In fact, if you have a strong opinion about politics, now is a great time to discuss the issues with your kids, and why you feel that way, etc. I think these conservative/anti-Obama motions have got to stop, just out of respect for the president, if not for any other reason. If I get another anti-Obama email I am going to scream. I encourage all of you to read the speech yourself.

Little Sister & Off To School

Wesley has been so sweet with little Francy lately. He gives her kisses at least 10 times a day or more. I think his love language is for sure physical touch.

Michelangelo prefers to make her smile.

Michelangelo has now been attending preschool for the past two weeks. I bring him to one lady's house where she runs the preschool out of her basement and I also participate in a co-op preschool. As you can tell by this photo he is not too excited but whenever I pick him up to leave he always wants to stay so I guess he likes it. I just hope he is learning something. and that he is nice to the other kids. It's crazy to me how time flies. It seems like yesterday he was just my little baby.
