Rediscovering An Old Passion

Yes, I am back at the wheel, and I love it! It had been over five years since I had done any pottery! Crazy i know! I loved it back at old Mountain Crest with Jack O'Neill. Then I loved it at UVSC. Then.... I got pregnant, had a baby, got pregnant, had another baby, then got pregnant, and had another baby. Before I knew it five years had passed and I hadn't even thrown at the wheel. Last fall I was extatic to sign up for a class offered just minutes from my house, and with Justin being done with school there was nothing stopping me. After I finished the class I joined a local Pottery Lab and I am loving it! The only problem is I loved the class so much it inspired me to take more classes so my schedule is getting really full so I don't go to the lab as often as I would like. Someday I am going to get my own pottery wheel and kiln. That would be the bomb!

This is where the Springville Pottery Lab meets. It's small but has the goods.

I took Justin to a pottery show a couple of weeks ago and it was fascinating to see all the different techniques and styles of pottery. I would love to be in a pottery show someday...

Kitchen Makeover- After/Part 5

So there it is. Magenta Jewel and Paris Mint were the winners. I kept telling myself white cabinets were a cop-out but after painting them off-white I am really happy with how they turned out. The whole house feels much more open and clean and bright. Thank you Mark & Holly for helping paint the cabinets and thank you Justin for taking care of the kids while I was painting away.
Have I showed you our retro stove and double oven yet? It's at least 50 years old but works like a charm.  ;)
I still want to tear out the carpet in the kitchen and put tile in or something. The projects are never ending. Any ideas for the kitchen floor?

Kitchen Makeover- Part 4

I didn't want it to be a boring kitchen so I experimented with some color.... Lots of color... You probably wish I this was the way we kept it. But it's not. Me and Justin agreed it looked like PeeWee's playhouse.

Bathroom After Pictures

The entire bathroom remodel only cost about $75 total. It was fun, and good experience for my first room. I look forward to tackling many other house projects in the near future. Stay posted.  :)

Bathroom During Pics

Removing wallpaper is hard work. The paper tiger is now my friend. I actually liked the vintage aquamarine color I found behind the wallpaper. I wonder what year it was painted. Thank you Mark for helping install the laminate flooring.

Bathroom Before Pics

I don't think I'll ever understand the whole "carpet-in-the-bathroom" thing.

Cypress Casa

Here is the house before:Here is the house with the primer:And here is the house after: TaDaThis is in the sunlight:!And here is Justin putting up new house numbers:
Late afternoon shot:

The fam. Cypress is a wonderfuly fun color. It was a fun process seeing the change. One neighbor who is probably in her eighties came over and thanked me for brightening up the street. And my nice young neighber friend asked me for the painting companies number so she could get a quote to paint her house. I'm hoping my whole street will all paint their houses in brave bold colors. I am excited to be known from now on a the girl with the yellow house.
